By Cycle

When riding from Bad Ischl to Ebensee there are two options along the R2 cycle route, however, the one below is not sign posted but is a much nicer route being on forest roads, away from the main road.

  1. Having cycled from Bad Ischl along the main road for ~5km 10/15 minutes take the bridge over the river Traun and then stay on this side of the river. From here stay on the windy asphalt road which then turns into forest/gravel road. This route is definitely not as flat but it’s a lot nicer than travelling along the road.
  2. If staying alongside the B145 (main road) there is a chance at ~13km from Bad Ischl to turn under the main road. Take this turn and follow the road around to the right onto a road through forest.
  3. Follow this route for just over 2km, crossing the railway tracks at Steinkogl train station and then turning left.
  4. Take a left turn at the T junction.
  5. Follow road staying right at the fork.
  6. After about 700m, you will see a large sign with Ebensee displayed, shortly after this take a left turn into Lahnstraße and we are just under 500m on the left.
